Manage Talk Automated Rules
View saved rules from the Automation Rules page.
When you create groups with automated rules, the rules are saved. From the Automation Rules page, view all the rules used in Talk, see rule statuses, view and edit any groups with duplicate names, delete rules, edit the draft of a rule that you have not finished creating, and see a list of groups for a rule.
For guidelines on working with attributes to define your rules, see How to plan for auto-generated groups and Guidelines for creating automated rules.
Guidelines
Note the following:
- Rules that have already been created (no longer in draft state) cannot be edited.
- When you delete a rule, the groups created by the rule and their content, including metadata about the users in those groups, are also deleted.
- When there are changes to the attribute mappings, groups associated with rules using the attributes are automatically updated to reflect these changes after the next synchronization between the parent product and Talk.
- A rule's status indicates its current state. Statuses include:
- Draft. Rule is in an unfinished draft state.
- In progress. Rule is in the queue to be executed or is currently running.
- Completed. Rule execution has finished.

To resolve group name conflicts
Talk group names must be unique. When you execute rules to create groups, the system automatically checks to see if groups with the same names already exist on the Talk tenant.
Rules with groups that have name conflicts are flagged on the Automation Rules page. From here, you open the Errors dialog to review and update the names to be unique.
Note the following guidelines:
- If the updated name is also a duplicate, then you must edit the name until the system accepts it as unique.
- You can review and change conflicting group names at any time.
- Automated groups are not created until their names are unique.
