Manage Biometric Templates

Importing and Exporting biometric templates

To import biometric enrollments that have been extracted from a supported time and attendance system into the Universal Device Manager (UDM) Manages the configuration of terminals and communication with the system.:

  1. From the Devices main menu, select Manage Imports > Biometric Templates. The Biometric Templates workspace appears.
  2. Select the Import tab.
  3. Click Choose File to select the biometric zip file that contains the exported templates and enter the same passphrase that was specified during the data extraction.
  4. Click Import File.

Once the import completes, biometric templates are uploaded to the UKG Pro Workforce Management server and can be viewed on the people information page.

Note: Biometric enrollments are matched with people that are already in the system, and badge numbers directly correspond to their badge numbers. It is assumed that people in the system into which the biometric enrollments are being imported have the same badge numbers as those in the system from which the enrollments were exported.

To export biometric templates so that they can be moved between UKG Pro Workforce Management tenants:

  1. From the Devices main menu, select Manage Imports > Biometric Templates. The Biometric Templates workspace appears.
  2. Select the Export tab.
  3. Enter a passphrase that must be entered to extract the biometrics data from the data extraction.zip file to tenants.
  4. Click Export File.

Deleting biometric templates

The Biometrics Templates workspace > Delete tab allows you to delete some or all biometric templates. Optionally, after the deletion is complete, you can download a Results file that summarizes how many employees were affected and the total number of deleted templates. The file also includes details for each employee such as the Employee ID, Consent Status, Enrollment Date, and other biometric information from the People record.

The Function Access Profile named Universal Device Manager delete biometric templates controls whether the Delete tab is available. By default, it is Disallowed. To locate the Function Access Profile, select Manager – Common Setup > Universal Device Manager.

Warning: The biometric data cannot be recovered once it is deleted from the server. Also, the deletion does not remove biometric data from devices; to delete data from devices, the device must be updated or initialized.

The following options are available for deleting biometric templates.

  • Template Type. Select at least one of the following template types:

    • TouchID (Finger). This option includes Touch ID finger scan templates.

    • TouchID Plus (Finger). This option includes Touch ID Plus finger scan templates.

    • TouchFree ID (Face) . This option includes TouchFree ID face scan templates.

  • Consent Status. Select at least one of the following consent statuses:

    • Accepted. This status includes employees who provided biometric consent after enrollment.

    • Not Available. This status includes employees who were allowed by bypass consent, or for whom the consent feature was unavailable at the time of their biometric enrollment.

Example: An organization wants to delete all biometric templates that do not have the employee's accepted consent. In this scenario, the Administrator would select all three template types (TouchID (Finger), TouchID Plus (Finger) and TouchFree ID (Face) and the consent status Not Available.
